Navigating parenting with ADHD
Despite so much information there isn’t actually a guidebook or method that can possibly work for every individual family situation. Throw in the unique set of challenges that navigating parenting with ADHD and it’s no surprise you can feel out of your depth.
This can be incredibly challenging and overwhelming at times.

Children with ADHD hear 20,000 more negative comments

It comes as no surprise that our children can be so much more physically energetic, their minds race and wander all at the same time and they sometimes really struggle to manage their emotions, school can present a whole host of different challenges too.
Children with ADHD are estimated to receive 20,000 more negative comments than their neurotypical pears by age 12, potentially impacting their self-esteem and self-worth.
In turn we can feel ourselves not knowing what to do for the best while heading for our own burnout.
Research
It’s not rocket science but some of the explanation is within the ongoing scientific research that is unfolding every day.

The parents I’ve worked with who are parents to children with ADHD and often have ADHD themselves (you will likely experience your own sensory overload that parenting presents) have so often highlighted that it can feel like you seem to have more challenges than you were prepared for.
